Where I chose to volunteer…

I’m going to cover a variety of topics in my blog posts, but when it comes to volunteer work the topic closest to my heart will always be animal rescue and welfare.  Animals do not have a voice to advocate for their needs.  They are dependent on human kindness, and completely vulnerable to human cruelty.

If you have reached the point where you are ready to add a furry friend to your life,

I encourage you to look in to adoption with one of the many wonderful organizations in the DC area.  Organizations such as Homeward Trails, 4Paws Rescue Team and the Washington Humane Society always have animals in need of their forever home.  If you’re not ready for that level of commitment there are also foster opportunities.  Fostering a cat or dog means that they live with you while they are looking for a permanent home.  This provides a safe, stable environment for the animals and allows you to enjoy the companion experience without a lifelong commitment.  Rescue organizations are also always hoping for volunteers and donations, so whatever you can do is exactly what they need right now.
